Additional works to Newhaven Reserve

Rectifications to Bass Coast Shire Council’s recent sportsground drainage works at Newhaven Reserve will be completed in January.

Earlier this year, Council engaged Contractors to complete the installation of a new subsurface drainage system, which has provided significant improvements to the drainage capabilities of the ground.

A routine inspection, however, revealed the works hadn’t achieved the filtration rate expected as part of the works.

Council’s General Manager Infrastructure, Felicity Sist, said the additional works would come at no cost to Council.

“Through monitoring the performance of the drainage and testing of the drainage lines, we have reached agreement with the contractor to undertake rectification works,” Ms Sist said.

“The works will occur in January at a time to cause the least disruption to reserve users”.

Users of the Reserve have been notified of the temporary closure, namely the Phillip Island Breakers Soccer Club and the Phillip Island Cricket Club.
