Bass Coast businesses are invited to highlight their strengths and recognise the work of their staff by entering the 2016 Bass Coast Business Awards.

Entries are now open and following on from the success of last year, the Awards will run in two parts – a People’s Choice category, as well as the Business Awards, so both businesses and their customers can be involved.

Community members will be able to vote for their People’s Choice online, with all entries for the Judged Awards to be made through Council’s website.

Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Jordan Crugnale, said the Awards are one of the most popular annual events for our local business community.

“This is a call out to all businesses in the municipality from farmgates, wineries to the at home innovative enterprises, from artisans handmaking their wares right through to the eco tourism operators bringing in busloads of visitors,” Cr Crugnale said.

“We have almost 8,000 registered small businesses, a diverse product and market here in the Bass Coast and this needs to be reflected and showcased in these awards.

“Put your business name into the rink as the more that enter the healthier the competition and on the side it is also an opportunity to profile raise.”

Entries

All businesses in Bass Coast registered to receive business mail with Australia Post will receive a Business Award kit in the mail. The kit will include entrant’s information and a promotional poster to display in businesses for the People’s Choice Awards to encourage customers to vote.

Information booklets and People’s Choice Posters are also available online at basscoast.vic.gov.au/businessawards and from Council’s Customer Service Centres.

Business Award entries close on 11 July 2016.

There are six categories in the Business Awards:

  • Business Excellence 0-5 employees - sponsored by Phillip Island Nature Parks

  • Business Excellence 6 or more employees - sponsored by Phillip Island RSL

  • Marketing and Promotion - sponsored by Destination Phillip Island

  • New Business - sponsored by Bass Coast Shire Council

  • Environment and Sustainability - sponsored by Westernport Water

  • Good Access is Good Business - sponsored by Rural Access

The overall winner of the 2016 Bass Coast Business of the Year will be selected from the winners of these categories.

People’s Choice

Council is asking members of the community to vote for any business operating in Bass Coast that they believe provides exceptional service.

Have you had an excellent customer service experience that still stands out in your mind? This is a chance to recognise that business for their service, as well as support some of the favourite local businesses by nominating them in the People’s Choice Award.

Businesses aren’t able to nominate themselves in this section, but they can encourage their customers to put in a nomination.

Nominations can be made at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/businessawards. Entries are limited to one per person, per business.

People's Choice voting closes on 11 July 2016.

Awards Presentation Dinner

The excitement of the Business Awards culminates at the Awards Presentation Dinner on Friday, 19 August 2016 at Silverwater Resort, San Remo. The evening is open to all businesses, not just those that have entered, and any business can book a table for their staff and friends.

Last year’s event was very popular, so book early to avoid missing out. For bookings, please contact Council’s Business Development Officer, Emilie Barkley, on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211, or email emilie.barkley@basscoast.vic.gov.au.
