Bass Coast Business Awards are back
Bass Coast businesses are invited to highlight their strengths and recognise the work of their staff by entering the 2017 Bass Coast Business Awards.
Entries are now open and following on from the success of last year, the Awards will run in two parts – a People’s Choice category, as well as the Business Awards, so both businesses and their customers can be involved.
Community members will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Awards online, with all entries for the judged Awards to be made through Council’s website. Businesses are also eligible for the newly established Hall of Fame.
Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield, said the Awards are one of the most popular annual events for our local business community.
“This is a call out to all businesses in the municipality from large commercial businesses to the at home innovative enterprises, from artisans hand making their wares right through to the eco tourism operators bringing in busloads of visitors,” Cr Rothfield said.
“We have almost 8,000 registered small businesses in Bass Coast, representing a varied and dynamic market. It’s important that businesses of all types and sizes are nominated so that the awards highlight and reflect this diversity.”
“I encourage you to put your business name into the mix. The more that enter, the healthier the competition, and this is also a great opportunity to raise your profile.”
All businesses in Bass Coast registered to receive business mail with Australia Post will receive a Business Award kit in the mail. The kit will include entrant’s information and a promotional poster to display in businesses for the People’s Choice Awards to encourage customers to vote.
Information booklets and People’s Choice Posters are also available online at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/businessawards and from Council’s Customer Service Centres.
Business Award entries close on 3 July 2017.
There are six categories in the Business Awards:
- Business Excellence 0-5 employees - sponsored by Phillip Island Nature Parks
- Business Excellence 6 or more employees - sponsored by Phillip Island RSL
- Marketing and Promotion - sponsored by Destination Phillip Island
- New Business - sponsored by Bass Coast Shire Council
- Environment and Sustainability - sponsored by Westernport Water
- Good Access is Good Business - sponsored by Rural Access
The overall winner of the 2017 Bass Coast Business of the Year will be selected from the winners of these categories.
Council is asking members of the community to vote for any business operating in Bass Coast that they believe provides exceptional service.
Have you had an excellent customer service experience that still stands out in your mind? This is a chance to recognise that business for their service, as well as support some of your favourite local businesses by nominating them in the People’s Choice Awards.
Businesses aren’t able to nominate themselves in this section, but they can encourage their customers to put in a nomination.
Nominations can be made at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/businessawards. Entries are limited to one per person, per business.
People's Choice voting closes on 3 July 2017.
Hall of Fame
In 2016, four businesses were inducted into the newly established Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame acknowledges businesses that have won three times in the same category. These businesses have exhibited an exceptionally high standard of product, service and overall operations year on year.
Hall of Fame recipients are encouraged to enter alternate categories as they are ineligible to enter the category their Hall of Fame Award was presented in for a period of two years.
Awards Presentation Dinner
The excitement of the Business Awards culminates at the Awards Presentation Dinner on Friday, 11 August 2017 at RACV Inverloch Resort. The evening is open to all businesses, not just those that have entered, and any business can book a table for their staff and friends.
