Media release courtesty of the Phillip Island 150th Celebrations Planning Committee

Are you a budding artist or keen designer?

The Phillip Island 150th Celebrations Planning Committee is calling for designs from the community for a logo which will be used for publications associated with celebrations of the 150th anniversary of settlement on Phillip Island.

The winning entry will be awarded a $500 cash prize.

History

The 150th anniversary of the establishment of the first European community settlement of Phillip Island will be celebrated in 2018. Prior to this the European settlement of the Island had been solely occupied by sealers in the early 1800’s and the McHaffie brothers in 1842.

The Phillip Island 150th Celebrations Planning Committee is made up of community members, representatives from various community organisations, Bass Coast Shire Councillors and Bass Coast Shire Council Officers.

The Committee is planning many events to help celebrate Phillip Island’s rich history. All community groups, sporting clubs, schools and community members will be invited to create events and help celebrate this significant milestone.

Logo Design Guidelines

Individuals from across Bass Coast are encouraged to develop a design for a logo which is reflective of the history of Phillip Island.
