Big year for Business Awards

Bass Strait Direct and A Maze’N Things have taken out to the major awards at the 2016 Bass Coast Business Awards.

Bass Strait Direct was voted most popular and awarded the People’s Choice Award, as well as the New Business Award, whilst A Maze’N Things was judged Bass Coast Business of the Year for the second year running – the first time a business has won the top award two years in a row.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Jordan Crugnale, said this was a significant achievement for both businesses.

“I’d like to congratulate every business who entered and it is great to see these awards growing every year, with over half of the businesses in the awards entering for the first time in 2016,” Cr Crugnale said.

“I would also like to acknowledge and thank all the sponsors for their support over the years.”

Over 160 people attended the Awards Presentation Dinner at Silverwater Resort, which was also attended by Deputy Mayor, Cr Bradley Drew, Cr Kimberley Brown and Cr Neil Rankine, as well as the Member for Bass, Brian Paynter MP.

Four businesses were inducted into the Hall of Fame, and for the first time, two businesses received the same amount of votes in the People’s Choice Awards, with Cheeky Goose Café and the San Remo Fisherman’s Co-Op named joint winners in the Hospitality Award.
