Cape Paterson Scheme Deferred

At the Council meeting on 17 July, Bass Coast Shire Councillors voted to defer decision on the Notice of Intention to Declare the Cape Paterson Area Special Charge Scheme and refer back to officers for further investigation.

Cr Neil Rankine proposed an amended motion to his fellow Councillors to defer consideration of the report pending an investigation of possible changes to the scheme.

These changes included the colour of the pavement and kerb; removal of kerb in favour of the edge strips where appropriate; and use of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principle and other engineering options to increase the ability for kerb to be replaced with edge strips.

Cr Brad Drew seconded the motion, which was then carried.

Council Officers will now investigate the further options put forward by Council.

Once Officers have investigated these options they will be presented to Council at an informal briefing.

Following this briefing, a final proposal will be developed and further information will go out to the community and a report will be put forward to Council for decision whether or not to proceed with the scheme.
