Bass Coast Shire Council has thanked the Cowes community for taking part in a successful engagement project for the Cowes Activity Centre Plan.

Mayor, Cr Kimberley Brown, gave a heart felt thanks to all the people who visited the marquee in the Cowes Town Square last week to have their say.

“We had an overwhelming response of over 500 people posting over 1,000 ideas on the walls of the marquee,” Cr Brown said.

“Council is delighted with the response from the community and their keen interest in planning for the future of Cowes.”

Cr Brown said a number of themes were discussed and out of the 1,000 ideas put forward, fixing the foreshore and fixing the main street was what the community highlighted and valued the most.

“It was fantastic to see so many people come to visit the marquee and put forward their ideas and aspirations for the future of Cowes,” Cr Brown said.

“The Cowes community are very keen to see positive change take place to enhance the natural assets and increase the activity of Cowes Town Centre.”

The next step for the project team is to work through all the information in order to develop the concept designs.
