Council Welcomes Services Review

Bass Coast Shire Council has welcomed the State Government’s announcement that it has agreed to Council’s request of a review of services.

Mayor, Cr Neil Rankine, said he was delighted that the government will contribute funding towards the review.

“Council, at its meeting held 25 June 2014, resolved to request the Minister to support and fund a review of services to determine whether services are being provided equitably across the municipality.

“Whilst the Minister initially refused the request, he has now committed to supporting the request,” Cr Rankine said.

“We are also pleased the Minister for Local Government, the Hon. Tim Bull MLA, has expanded the review to include State Government investment on Phillip Island.”

“In addition, Council has arranged to meet with the Phillip Island Progress Association in accordance with our resolution on 15 October 2014.”

Cr Rankine said the details regarding the cost, Council’s contribution to the review and the terms of reference would be presented in a report at the 15 October Ordinary Council Meeting.
