Following the announcement by the Hon Ken Smith Member for Bass that the State Government had granted $150,000 to support the Cowes Activity Centre Plan, Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Neil Rankine commented that:

“Council is delighted that the State Government is investing in planning for the future of Cowes.

“We know that Cowes is growing rapidly and it is important to ensure that we understand and plan for the needs of the community not only now but for the future.

“The focus of the Cowes Activity Centre Plan is to engage with the community to identify community views and aspirations for the future of the Cowes activity centre. These will translate into a comprehensive plan for Cowes that can be used to deliver projects for the township.

“The plan will consider issues such as township revitalisation, traffic, road infrastructure, tourism and amenity for those living in and visiting the Cowes activity centre. It will help Council prioritise investment in economic development, infrastructure and environment.”
