Bass Coast,

Destination Bass Coast

When Fay and Ken Elliott were given the choice of visiting a Gippsland destination for a weekend getaway, their decision was all too easy.

With the six Gippsland Councils offering a holiday anywhere in the region as part of the Victorian Regional Living Expo, Fay and Ken were the lucky winners, recently spending a luxury weekend away at the RACV Inverloch Resort.

“We have always loved Gippsland.  I was born in Yarram and lived on a farm at Woodside and we have family there and in Traralgon and Drouin,” Fay said.

“We also have friends in Leongatha, Korumburra, Cowes and Inverloch and will soon be visiting a son and daughter and their families in Inverloch when they move there in early October. It was therefore a wonderful surprise to find out that Ken and I could spend a luxury weekend – with lots of pampering – on the Bass Coast.”

Fay said the staff at RACV “could not have been kinder”, and described their meals at the resort as “beautiful”.

“It was a wild, wet night outside but in their dining room everything was cosy and well organised,” Fay said.

“I think our favourite part of the weekend were the fantastic, hour-long massages at the Island Healing Centre at Newhaven and just being able to relax and have fun together and not think of what else we should be doing.

“We also enjoyed watching the pelicans being fed at San Remo, going for long walks rugged up against the cold and catching up with friends in Cowes.”

Fay said as a born and bred Gippslander, the cold and windy weather didn’t put a dampener on their weekend either.

“We would like to thank everyone at the Bass Coast Shire Council for making this weekend possible; especially (Council’s Economic Development Coordinator) Roslyn Jenzen for all her help organising our wonderful weekend away,” Fay said.

“It was much appreciated by us both.”
