Friends Needed For Scenic Estate

Bass+Coast+Shire+Council+is+looking+for+interested+community+members+to+form+a+Friends+of+Group+for+Scenic+Estate+Conservation+Reserve.

If you want to help out your local community, love getting out and about in our natural environment or even just want to meet new people, Bass Coast Shire Council has a proposal for you!

The newly established Scenic Estate Conservation Reserve at Surf Beach on Phillip Island is in need of a Friends of Group.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Kimberley Brown, said Council has completed major works to deliver the first stage of the Scenic Estate Landscape Plan, and was now looking for input from the community to love and nurture this “amazing nature reserve”.

“The new Friends of Group will help Council to manage the Conservation Reserve and be called upon to help set the annual works program,” Cr Brown said.

“This will include on-ground conservation works and minor infrastructure works. You can get involved in activities such as tree planting, weeding, signage, path maintenance and seed collecting.”

The group will formally meet four times per year at the site to plan and carry out works, as well as at other time decided on by the group.

If you are interested in joining this group, come and meet at Scenic Estate on Saturday, 8 August from 9.30am to 11.00 am. The group will meet in the car park and then walk the site.
