Funds For Community Projects

Is your community group after funding to help you go ahead with a new project, improve your facilities or run an event?

Bass Coast Shire Council Community Grants Round 1 applications are open from 13 April to 28 April for groups seeking funding in the 2015-16 financial year.

Funds from this round of Community Grants will be awarded after 24 June 2015, subject to Council’s approval of the 2015-2016 budget allocation for Community Grants.

Round 1 categories include:

  • General Community Grant - for applications seeking up to $1,000 for equipment or $2,500 for other projects
  • Community Event Grant - for applications seeking up to $5,000
  • Minor Capital Works Grant - for applications seeking up to $5,000

Council’s General Manager Healthy Communities, David Elder, highlighted this is the major grant round for projects intended to take place in the 2015-16 financial year.

“This is the annual opportunity for Bass Coast based, not-for-profit groups to apply for minor capital works project funding up to $5,000,” Mr Elder said.

“Applicants intending to apply for a Minor Capital Works grant must seek advice from Council’s Grants Officer well before making an application. This is to ensure all potential permits and approvals for a particular project are understood before planning and writing a grant application.”

Mr Elder said local groups intending to hold larger events during the 2015-16 financial year and are seeking a contribution from Council for up to $5,000 also need to apply to this round of grants.

“This will include groups holding sporting or celebratory events over the 2015-16 summer and holiday period,” Mr Elder said.

“There will be additional opportunities to apply for a smaller amount of event funding throughout the financial year by applying to the General Community Grant - other projects category.

“This category is open for applications three times during the year, and has a funding limit of $2,500.”

Applicants are advised to attend a Community Grant Information Session, especially if this is the first time a group is making a Community Grant application. Session dates and times will be advertised in local newspapers and on Council’s website.
