Get rid of green waste, fee-free

Bass+Coast+residents+and+property+owners+can+dispose+of+their+household+green+waste+at+no+charge+from+1+November+to+16+December.

If you live or own a property in Bass Coast, now is the perfect time to start cleaning up your yard to take advantage of six weeks of fee-free green waste disposal, from 1 November until 16 December 2018.

Bass Coast Shire Council offers this service to encourage residents and property owners to get ready for the upcoming fire season by tidying up their properties.

Residents and property owners can take domestic sized loads of green waste to the Grantville, Wonthaggi and Inverloch Transfer Stations, and Cowes Recycling Bank. Facility locations and opening times are available at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/wastefacilities.

Weed species and plants that cannot be mulched including Blackberry, English Ivy, Agapanthus and Mirror Bush as well as palm fronds are not included in the fee free period, however they can go in your kerbside Organics (green lid) bin.

High demand for the service can result in queues and delays, particularly on the first weekend, so disposing of your green waste in the middle of the fee free period may help you avoid delays.

In periods of high demand, a facility may close 30 minutes before the scheduled closing time, to allow for the unloading of vehicles already on site. This will help ensure operations do not extend beyond the closing time.
