Keep an eye out for Bass Coast’s 2018/19 waste collection calendars, which are now available.

Instead of in your mailbox, the calendars will be available from our website at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/waste as well as from any of Council’s Customer Service Centres and Visitor Information Centres. The waste calendars will also be available from several other convenient locations across the Shire, including General Stores and Post Offices.

The waste collection calendars have been distributed to local real estate agents that manage holiday rentals, Bass Coast Transfer Stations and they will also be printed in the local newspapers in the lead up to summer, perfect to cut out and stick on the fridge. Calendars can also still be posted upon request.

There are two calendars available, one for each collection zone, so be sure to pick up the correct one.

Council’s Manager Sustainable Environment, Deirdre Griepsma, explained that Council has opted not to send out its waste collection calendars to all residences this year, in order to maximise both economic and environmental benefits.

“The large number of holiday homes across the Bass Coast means that the calendars often sit in letterboxes for long periods of time and deteriorate, sometimes becoming illegible,” Ms Griepsma said.

“This method of distribution means that there are a range of convenient options available to our community and we reduce the amount of calendars wasted.”

In the lead up to summer, Council will be holding several information sessions to assist interested community members with sorting their waste and using the system more effectively. These information sessions will also provide registered holidays home owners the opportunity to upgrade their landfill bin at no cost for the current financial year.

If you would like to request a waste calendar to be posted, or if you have any questions, please contact Council’s Waste Team on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211.
