Healthy Focus At Cape Paterson

Sea Salt Café in Cape Paterson will host the final Winter Warmers Living Healthy Bass Coast Roadshow on Tuesday, 3 September from 11.00am to 1.00pm.

The Roadshow will feature a range of activities and information to help you lead a healthier lifestyle.

Community cook, Manny Vella, will be showing you how to whip up two tasty seasonal dishes, and you’ll be able to take home recipe cards and ideas on cooking with fresh produce.

There’ll be plenty of information on local exercise programs, as well as plenty of produce packs and fun give-aways. Bass Coast Community Health will also be onsite providing free health checks.

Having already hosted one Roadshow, Sea Salt Café owners, Jan and Greg, said they’re better prepared for round two.

“The first one was a lot of fun and really well supported by locals. A good thing to come from the first Roadshow was the walking group, which is still going really strong, and it got a lot of people involved in the Lift for Life program too,” Jan said.

“The recipe cards people can take home are always popular – it’s great for people to find new, healthy recipes that are just as quick and easy to make as unhealthy meals.”

Jan said as a result of the program, they’ve even started selling fruit and vegetables at the café on a seasonal basis.

“The staff who run the whole program have been really helpful and supportive, and I take my hat off to them all!”

Community Strengthening Manager, Antoinette Mitchell encouraged everyone to attend the event

“The Roadshows are a travelling community kitchen encouraging the community to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle,” Ms Mitchell said.

“They’re guaranteed to be a lot of fun, with plenty of great ideas you can take home and try yourself.”
