International Women's Day

Local business woman and founder of the Koonwarra Village School, Fiona McKenzie, is this year’s guest speaker at the Bass Coast International Women’s Day lunch at Silverwater Resort on Tuesday, 12 March.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve, said Fiona is characterised by her commitment to social and environmental ethics.

"Fiona will share her story with over 150 local women,” said Cr Le Serve. “The aim of the lunch is to celebrate the achievements of and to inspire local women.

“The lunch is an opportunity for women to network, develop social and business connections and to support each other.

“It’s also an opportunity to recognise the important achievements of Bass Coast women in the community, within their families and their workplace,” continued Cr Le Serve.

Each year around the world, International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8 March.

On 8 March 1908, garment makers in New York demonstrated to demand better working conditions. The day is now globally acknowledged as a stand for social equality between women and men.

Tickets are $55 per person and include a two course meal, glass of wine, guest speaker, gift and door prizes and go on sale Friday, 1 March. For tickets contact Jessica Burrowes on 1300 BCOAST (226 278).
