Maru Koala and Animal Park has taken out the two major Awards at the 2013 SuperPages Bass Coast Business Awards announced at the Presentation Dinner on Friday night.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve, said the judges were impressed by Maru Koala and Animal Park’s detailed business and marketing plans.

“I’d like to congratulate the Maru Koala and Animal Park, all our award winners and runners up,” Cr Le Serve said.
“Interest is growing in the awards each year. Feedback we’ve had from businesses is that entering the awards is a fantastic experience.

“It gives them the opportunity to review their businesses and help make decisions about their goals and direction for the future.”

Over 100 representatives from a wide range of Bass Coast businesses attended the event held at the RACV Inverloch Resort, which created an atmosphere of excitement.

Council's Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden, congratulated not only the winners, but all businesses that entered the awards this year.

Mr Bawden said it was great to see businesses from across the whole Shire entering the awards and being acknowledged at the Presentation Dinner.

“Our local businesses are delivering fantastic services and building a reputation across Victoria, which is great for our economy, for visitors and for residents.

“The growing popularity of the awards reflects the strength of our local business community.

“We know from past awards that there is an economic benefit that can be gained from entering.”

The Council was represented at the Presentation Dinner by Cr Kimberley Brown and Cr Andrew Phillips, who are both business proprietors in Cowes, and Cr Bradley Drew, a three-time winner of the people's choice awards.
