Online forms make applications easier

To make applying for Asset Protection Permits and Road Occupation Permits as convenient as possible for users, Bass Coast Shire Council has introduced interactive online application forms.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield, said the online forms have been developed to improve customer service, reduce paper administration and enhance internal efficiencies.

“It will also mean the application, processing and inspections required for the permits will be streamlined and result in a shorter response time for applicants,” Cr Rothfield said.

“With these improvements, we are now better equipped to meet the five-day turnaround for Asset Protection Permits and two-day turnaround for Road Occupation Permits.”

Rather than submitting hard copies of form, or emailing attachments, applicants can now apply at a time that suits them from their computer or smart phone.

The new system also means Council Officers can receive new applications whilst outside of the office, undertake more inspections and issue permits on-site, rather than having to return to their desks to access new applications and send responses, as previously required.

The online forms provide the ability to apply, make payment, upload any necessary photos and track the status of applications online.

Applications for the permits are now available to be made online by visiting www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/permits, and payments can be made by credit card online, or cheque in person if required.

Cr Rothfield thanked the builders and contractors who took part in Council’s trial period.

“We really appreciate those who helped trial the new process and ensure it ran smoothly before we rolled it out for the wider community to use,” Cr Rothfield said.
