See What The Cowes Community Had To Say

Following the success of the Cowes Activity Centre Plan marquee in December 2014, Bass Coast Shire Council is inviting the community to yet another drop-in opportunity.

Over 500 people visited the marquee to have their say on the future of Cowes Town Centre, with all community input considered in the new draft Cowes Activity Centre Plan.

Mayor, Cr Kimberley Brown, said all Cowes residents and visitors were now invited to visit the second marquee to view the draft.

“The ideas, opinions and feedback Council received during the consultation period was valuable in putting together the draft Cowes Activity Centre Plan,” Cr Brown said.

“The purpose of the draft is to establish a vision for Cowes and define the characteristics of the town, particularly in relation to activities, buildings, access and spaces.”

Cr Brown said the people of Cowes have high expectations for this project.

“The significant number of separate engagements at the marquee and the overwhelming response by the community are indicative of a town who wants some action and who wants some results,” Cr Brown said.

“This is why it’s so important for the community to have the chance to view the draft, see all of those ideas put into the Plan and have the opportunity to comment.”

Cr Brown said the draft plan identifies three themes, being placemaking, planning and movement.

The marquee will once again be in the Cowes Town Square on:

  • Saturday, 25 April from 1.00pm until 4.30pm
  • Sunday, 26 April from 9.00am until 4.00pm
  • Monday, 27 April from 9.00am until 4.00pm

Formal presentations will run each day from 2.00pm until 3.00pm.

Retail traders are also invited to an evening presentation on Sunday, 26 April from 7.00pm until 8.00pm.

The draft report will be out for comment from 20 April until 19 May 2015.
